ACS580MV Medium Voltage Drives

ABB ACS580MV drives extend the ACS580 family into medium voltage. They cover 200 to 6,300 kW with a 3.3 to 11 kV output, in IP42. A multicell cascaded H-bridge topology keeps total harmonic distortion low and reduces dv/dt stress on the motor, so the installation needs no output filter.

The drive follows the ACS580 approach to commissioning and operation. A plant already running low voltage ACS580 drives therefore avoids learning a second platform for its large machines.     ABB supplies the ACS580MV as one engineered drive rather than as separate named versions. It is configured by rating, output voltage and frame size, with an integrated input transformer and a multicell cascaded H-bridge power section. Options cover the enclosure class for the installation environment and a cell bypass arrangement where process continuity matters more than full output after a cell fault. The topology keeps harmonic distortion and dv/dt low, so no output filter is specified.
